After a gap of seventeen years, Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have joined forces once again, this time for acclaimed director Priyadarshan’s much-anticipated thriller, ‘Haiwaan’. The film, which officially commenced shooting on August 23, 2025, marks a momentous reunion for fans who fondly remember the duo’s chemistry in classics like ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, ‘Yeh Dillagi’, and ‘Tashan’.
The star cast also includes Kajol and Bobby Deol, with Priyadarshan at the helm of what is described as an “edge-of-the-seat thriller”. ‘Haiwaan’ is reportedly the Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam hit ‘Oppam’, with Saif Ali Khan portraying a blind caretaker and Akshay Kumar playing a cold-blooded killer. The film explores themes of trust, justice, and vengeance, promising a gritty narrative with authentic performances; both leads are said to be opting for a raw and rugged look.

Announcing the launch on social media, Akshay Kumar posted a video showing playful banter between himself, Saif, and Priyadarshan, with fans celebrating the reprisal of the beloved on-screen pairing. “Starting the shoot for #Haiwaan today with my absolute favourite captain of the ship, @priyadarshan.official Sir. Great to be working with Saif after nearly 18 years. Let’s get the haiwaniyat rolling!” wrote Akshay, encapsulating the excitement surrounding the project.
‘Haiwaan’ is produced by KVN Productions in association with Thespian Films and is expected to release in 2026, with filming locations spanning Mumbai and Ooty. The announcement has sparked widespread enthusiasm online, with fans eagerly anticipating this high-voltage collaboration and the film’s take on moral duality.
