In a major crackdown on illicit drug use, Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) conducted a surprise raid at the JW Marriott Hotel late Sunday night, uncovering a drug party attended by around 120 guests, including several cricketers, among whom some were found under the influence of narcotic substances. The raid, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Raja Imam Kasim, was initiated following a tip-off about the party violating curfew norms and potential drug use.
The operation, conducted between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., found a lively crowd with loud music played by a DJ at the hotel’s resto-bar. While no drugs were recovered directly from the guests, medical tests conducted on-site revealed the presence of substances like ganja in some attendees. Authorities are currently investigating the origins and distribution of drugs and identifying the party organizer and implicated individuals.

Officials also confirmed the attendance of notable cricketers, although they have withheld names pending further inquiry. Police are intensifying efforts to understand the extent of drug usage and enforce stricter regulations on nightlife venues in the city. The Central Crime Branch may escalate the probe as more evidence emerges.
This raid highlights ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing narcotics spread in upscale venues and underscores the increasing vigilance toward curtailing such illegal activities. Authorities have assured firm action against violators under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, alongside enforcing strict adherence to local noise and curfew laws.
Local citizens and law enforcement agencies alike hope that this latest bust will deter future illegal events while calling for greater awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
