PM Modi Visits Gujarat to Launch Projects Worth Over Rs 5,400 Crore

PM Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Gujarat starting August 25, 2025, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for developmental projects valued at more than Rs 5,400 crore. The multifaceted visit spans Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Mehsana districts and highlights infrastructure enhancements in urban development, energy, roadways, and railways.

The PM’s visit commenced with a grand 3-km roadshow from Naroda to Nikol in Ahmedabad, drawing an estimated crowd of nearly one lakh people. The highlight was a public address at Khodaldham ground in Nikol, where Modi inaugurated 1,449 houses and 130 shops constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’s in-situ slum redevelopment scheme, benefiting slum dwellers in Ramapir Tekra.

Important infrastructure projects launched include the upgradation of the Sardar Patel Ring Road from four to six lanes under a hybrid annuity mode, a Rs 1,624 crore endeavour aimed at easing traffic and improving safety. Additionally, a Rs 27 crore water pumping station and a 23 km trunk main pipeline under the Jal Jeevan Mission will provide clean drinking water to 10 villages in the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority area.

In Gandhinagar, Modi inaugurated various urban projects worth Rs 281 crore. Mehsana district saw major railway projects worth Rs 1,796 crore initiated, including the doubling of the 65 km Mehsana-Palanpur railway line and gauge conversion works for local routes. Modi also flagged off new passenger and freight train services, expanding regional connectivity.

On August 26, the visit will culminate with the inauguration of Maruti Suzuki’s new production line for its first electric vehicle, the ‘e-Vitara’, in Hansalpur. Modi will also inaugurate the production of hybrid battery electrodes and export battery electric vehicles to over 100 countries, signifying a boost to the electric vehicle ecosystem.

This extensive development push underscores the government’s ambition to bolster infrastructure, enhance urban amenities, and promote sustainable industrial growth in Gujarat, reaffirming the state’s position as a key economic hub.
