Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty has announced the permanent closure of her iconic Mumbai restaurant, Bastian Bandra, amidst allegations of a ₹60 crore loan fraud involving her and her husband, Raj Kundra. This closure marks the end of an era for one of Mumbai’s most celebrated dining and nightlife destinations known for its celebrity patrons and vibrant ambiance.

In an emotional Instagram post, Shilpa Shetty described the closure as “the end of an era,” highlighting the countless memories and unforgettable nights that defined Bastian Bandra’s legacy. She assured fans and patrons that the Thursday night event “Arcane Affair,” a popular feature of the Bandra outlet, will continue at another of their venues, Bastian at the Top, promising “new experiences” going forward.

The allegations stem from businessman Deepak Kothari, who accused the couple of misappropriating funds worth ₹60.48 crore, provided between 2015 and 2023 for business expansion but allegedly used for personal expenses. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have denied the accusations through their legal representatives, calling the claims “baseless” and emphasizing that no FIR copy has been received by the defense.

Bastian Bandra, co-owned by Shilpa and restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, had been a hotspot for Mumbai’s elite and celebrities since its launch in 2016. Its graceful interiors and gourmet offerings made it a staple of the city’s culinary scene.

As the legal proceedings continue, the closure of Bastian Bandra leaves a void in Mumbai’s nightlife while raising questions about the couple’s business practices. The evolving situation remains closely watched by industry insiders and fans alike.
