Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the flood-affected states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on September 9, 2025, to assess the extensive damage caused by recent flash floods and heavy rainfall. The visit aims to provide first-hand review of the ongoing relief efforts and to underscore the central government’s commitment toward rehabilitation and support for the affected populations.
In Himachal Pradesh, PM Modi will arrive in Kangra around 1:30 PM, where he will meet with state officials, hold high-level review meetings, and interact with flood-affected individuals. He will also conduct an aerial survey of the landslide and flood-hit regions to get a comprehensive understanding of the situation on the ground.

Following his visit to Himachal, the Prime Minister will proceed to Punjab, where he will conduct a similar aerial survey of the flood-impacted areas. His visit to the Gurdaspur district, one of the worst-hit regions, will include meetings with local authorities and displaced families affected by the floods. The Punjab government has reported over 40 deaths and estimated losses of more than ₹13,000 crores due to the flooding.
The Prime Minister’s visit is timely as relief and rescue operations continue to be deployed by the Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and state disaster response teams. These efforts seek to mitigate the impact of the monsoon-related calamity while rebuilding crucial infrastructure.
The visit is expected to highlight the urgency of strengthening flood defenses along the rivers Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, and Ghaggar, as recent damage has been worsened by illegal mining and insufficient maintenance. PM Modi’s direct oversight aims to accelerate recovery measures and ensure better preparedness for future disasters.
